Outdoor Adventure Kamp (OAK) by Riverside Outfitters, Ages 6--12

Kids will be challenged and rewarded at OAK by the great activities, including horizontal canopy challenges (e.g., canopy rope bridge activity), wilderness orienteering and a new shallow-water activity.
In the new shallow-water river activity, led by Captain Mike Ostrander of the James River Fishing School, kids will explore the James River to see longnose gar, catfish, smallmouth bass and schools of shad and minnows from a raft; they’ll even venture into the water for a closer view using snorkeling gear. They’ll track fish and other animal sightings using their take-home James River Fish-Watch Checklist.
Also on the camp agenda is wilderness orienteering. Campers will learn how to work with compasses, maps and natural landmarks to chart a course, check progress and reach a destination. Campers will also learn some important fundamentals around wilderness safety and self-rescue. Please register with Riverside Outfitters by May 15. $114.75 per session (reflects 15% discount for SRA members).
Session 1: June 22–26, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
