Pool Management

We are pleased to announce that Virginia Swim Club Management (VSCM) will be professionally managing our pools and entrance gate this year. Please let the guards know of any concerns you have about the safety or cleanliness of the pools, but remember: Do not talk to the guards when they are on the lifeguard stands unless they have spoken to you first. This is a safety concern, and safety comes first at Southampton.

Pool Entrance Gate

VSCM gate guards will manage the pool entrance this year. A guard will ask your name, check it against the list of paid members, and ask you to sign in. The guard will also collect and monitor our $3 guest passes. Please remember to sign in. This helps us determine busy and slow times and helps us make decisions to make us the best recreation association in the area.

Family Night Thursdays

Join us for a great time at Family Night, Thursdays June 16–September 1, 6–9 p.m. Pack a picnic dinner or purchase one from the snack bar, and let the kids have fun with their friends and big floats in the pools. This is the only time during the pool season that large floats are permitted in the pools.

Lifeguard Appreciation Days

Help us show our fantastic, hardworking lifeguards how much we appreciate them during Lifeguard Appreciation Days, July 3–9. Please consider bringing in some goodies for them during that week. Watch for more information about this important week!

Guest Policy

We encourage you to invite a friend or neighbor to SRA. Guest fees are $3 per person, regardless of age. In-town guests are limited to three visits in June, three visits in July and unlimited visits in August. (This policy does not apply when the guest is part of a pool party). Please note that guests must abide by the rules and if unable to swim must have an adult member present.

Lost and Found

Please check the Lost and Found regularly. Items left for more than a few weeks will be donated to the Salvation Army. If you label towels and children’s clothing with a Sharpie Rub-a-dub marker, it will make it easier to find the owner.

Morning Lap Swimming

Lap swim runs Monday–Friday, 6:30–8:30 a.m., June 13–August 26. The fee is $35 per person or $45 per family, payable to the SRA office. Claire Hatch will be our lifeguard this summer. For more information, contact Dan Ream (dream@vcu.edu or 513-4182).
